CLASS CHAT LISTS

(Rev. 31 Mar. 2002)

Each graduating class has it's own free electronic chat list for use by its members. Not all lists are active because we restrict access to classmates, and someone from each class is in a better position to do that than are we.  A list of classes needing moderators is located at the bottom of this screen.

We also have several administrative lists, which ease:

We realize that everyone has friends from YHS from other classes, and hope to provide a master email eddressbook, searchable by class, and name, by the middle of 2002. It will be located behind our firewall for members only.

Until then, click here to go to our active class chat lists. You'll be prompted for a current ID and password which is automatically provided to those that pay by credit card, and by email for those paying my check.  If you didn't receive this information, please email admin@yorktownalums.org.

If you would like to help with this project, please let us know by dropping an email to admin@yorktownalum.org. Thanks!

Important Yahoo Information!

(Rev. Mar 31, 2002)

It has come to our attention that yahoo.com has changed two important policies.  If you have a yahoo account or forward yahoo email to another system read on.  At present we don't believe anyone without a yahoo email account is affected.

One of the yahoo Terms of Use you agreed to when you created a account with yahoo.com was that they could change their Terms of Use in the future.

They seem to have exercised that right and changed the settings regarding marketing on many accounts to permit selling contact information to third parties who in turn may send you unsolicited commercial correspondence by email or post.

Here's how to check to see if your settings were changed, and change them if they were:

If you AUTOMATICALLY forward mail from your yahoo account to another account, take note:

Until there is official word to the contrary ...

- Yahoo! Mail web mail itself remains free.

- Yahoo! Groups remains free.

When you send a message to a group, even if you did it with the "Forward" button, it is not "forwarded mail" ... that is when mail addressed to one mailbox is automatically sent on to another mailbox. And that is what Yahoo! Mail is charging for.

"Yahoo! currently allows someone to set it up so that Yahoo! AUTOMATICALLY forwards ( their incoming mail) to another address ..."

This has nothing to do with mail that YOU click a Send button to mail. Or anything you wrote by clicking the "Forward" button. That is NOT mail forwarding.

This use of the word "forwarded" in this instance is about incoming mail AUTOMATICALLY being relayed to another email address.

Of course, if you WANT to get their advertisers' stuff you can say "Yes" as you please.
