YORKTOWN-SPECIFIC  RESOURCES

  • The Patriot Funds:

We are establishing, or promoting, a series of scholarship funds associated with YHS - the Patriot Scholarship Funds:

Funds Administered by the Alumni & Friends of Yorktown High School Inc.:

    • Yorktown Alumni Annual Merit Scholarship Fund - money given to this fund will be aggregated until enough is available to give a $4,000 merit-based scholarship to a deserving Yorktown graduate to continue their education. All the principal and earnings will be committed as soon as possible, so once disbursed, there will be no funds remaining. This fund will be for those who want to see their contributions have an impact on a deserving student as quickly as possible.

    • Yorktown Alumni Endowed Merit Scholarship Fund - money given to this fund will be invested until enough interest and dividends are available to give a $4,000 merit-based scholarship to a deserving Yorktown graduate to continue their education. Unlike the Annual Scholarship Fund - above - the principal of the fund will remain invested, which means your gift will continue to work in perpetuity, although it will take longer to have an impact than if it were disbursed in the year contributed.

  • Yorktown Alumni Endowed Crew Equipment Fund

An endowed fund created to finance the purchase of equipment for the Yorktown Crew.

If you care to participate, make checks payable to: Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, 600 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Daytona Beach, FL 32114-3900, Attn. Harry Jennings 386 226-6197.

Matching Gifts

  • Looking for a way to increase your gift?  Over 7,500 business have gift-matching programs for their employees. While specifics may vary, generally the steps to have your employer match your gift are as follows.  Please note, verifying whether your employer has a matching program, you only are involved with the first two of the following steps, we take care of the rest:

Step 1. Get a matching gift form from your employer (usually from the human resources department)

Step 2. Complete the form, and send it along with a donation

Step 3. The recipient certifies on the form that it has received your gift and that it meets our guidelines for receiving matching gifts.

Step 4. We then return the signed form to your employer

Step 5. Your employer verifies your eligibility and ours and sends a check with its matching funds to us.

For more details on corporate employee gift matching programs, click here to contact the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) for more information.

Then, push the Back key on your web-browser to return to our site, and send us the name of your employer to check if they have a gift-matching program, and it's general terms donations@yorktownalums.org.  If they do, we'll give you information about their program,  and a contact within your company to contact for more information and to get a copy of their matching gift form.

It has proven surprisingly difficult to locate good information on YHS-specific and local scholarships. If there are errors or omissions, above, please email scholarships@yorktownalums.org.
