Eleanor Elizabeth Wright, 61, retired head librarian at Yorktown High School in Arlington and president emeritus of the Washington-Arlington Catholic Forensic League, died Feb. 8, 2003 at Holy Cross Hospital after a stroke. Mrs. Wright, a Vienna resident, was attending a high school debating tournament in Montgomery County when she had the stroke.
Throughout her 36-year career at Yorktown, she was a high school speech and debate team coach. She continued in this role after her retirement in 2000.
She was born in Staunton, Va., and grew up in Front Royal, Va. She was a 1959 graduate of Strasburg (Va.) High School and a 1963 library science graduate of James Madison University. In 1971, she received a master's degree in library science from Florida State University.
She was active in the women's golf league at Oak Marr Golf Complex in Oakton.
She was a former president of the National Catholic Forensic League.
Survivors include a brother, William Wright of The Villages, Fla.
